  1. I know how you feel, i also have this. I found out when i was 20 or 21. It was so difficult at first, you tried to hide it and envy people who has nice hair. I had a very low self-esteem then. I still have some patches though but for this condition you just have to accept it and just feel good about yourself no matter what. ;-) we are perfectly okay. :-)

    I’m 14 and i have Alopecia, it sucks…
But atleast I’m not bald from cancer or anything bad..
Plus i thought i used to look bad with hair, so i guess it’s ok.
And for the girls with Alopecia…I just wanna say, you look beautiful no matter what, so don’t wear wigs, they’re ugly.

I have it and im 14 i pretty much lost all my hair but my eye lashes and it really sucks and i agree most people don’t know how hair is really important. All my friends say its not that hard but it really is. Really sucks but i guess what you live threw makes you stronger.

  6. im 16 and ive had this for 5 years. its hard on me a lot of the time, but i realize it makes me a stronger person and for that im thankful.
im still praying it’ll grow back, but when it does it does…

You’re the same as I. Even if I got my eyebrows and eyelashes back I’d be happy. :(

I’m a male, and it’s really hard for me too.

  8. People do not realise how important your hair is till its gone. Its so distressing.
I had the chemo drug Taxotere, i was told it would grow back because the drugs company sanofi Aventis hush -up this side effect .
I have been told its permanent, i would have chosen another chemo had i known.
This is now happening to many women.
So, what how does a chemo drug prevent hair growing back?
Whats being done to help people with Alopecia? Its a terrible, terrible thing to live with.

  9. when im 40 im gonna go bald smoke cigarettes and put on some cologne

  10. My daughter is 12yr old and has alopecia.
2 years ago 2 small patches appeared then joined to make 1 larger one (about 5cms by 2cms) she also has another patch about the size of a 1p piece.. she’s been on scalp treatment for about 5 months and now the large patch has downie hair growing. thankfully as she has such long thick hair the patches can be hidden

My dad and his brother had this many many years ago. Total hair loss as far as I know. Their hair grew back eventually but they did have baldness, but nothing that looked unnatural or asymmetric.
