Alopecia areata is a form of hair loss from areas of the body, usually from the scalp . Because it causes bald spots on the head, especially in the first stages, it is sometimes called spot baldness. Alopecia areata affects both males and females. This type of hair loss is different than male pattern baldness, an inherited condition. Alopecia areata is one type of hair loss. The exact number of people affected by alopecia areata is not known. Estimates vary between 1 in 1000 to 2 in 100 people being affected at some point in their life. Alopecia areata can occur at any age but most cases first develop in teenagers and children. In about 6 in 10 cases the first patch of hair loss develops before the age of 20 years. Alopecia areata is an unpredictable disease. In some people, hair grows back but falls out again later. In others, hair grows back and remains. Each case is unique. Even if someone loses all of his or her hair, there is a chance that it will grow back.

Alopecia areata is a disease that affects the hair follicles, which are part of the skin from which hairs grow. In most cases, hair falls out in small, round patches about the size of a quarter. The extent of the hair loss varies; in some cases, it is only in a few spots. In others, the hair loss can be greater. Occasionally it can involve the whole scalp (alopecia totalis) or even all the body and scalp (alopecia universalis). It is not possible to predict how much hair will be lost. Regrowth of hair in typical alopecia areata is usual over a period of months or, sometimes, years, but cannot be guaranteed. The hair sometimes regrows white at least in the first instance. Further hair loss is not uncommon. In alopecia totalis and alopecia universalis the likelihood of total regrowth is less.

Causes of Alopecia

The specific cause of alopecia areata is unknown. A family history of alopecia is present in about a fifth of all cases. Alopecia areata is occasionally associated with autoimmune diseases . –Normally the immune system protects the body against infection and disease. In an autoimmune disease, the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks some part of your own body. In alopecia areata, the immune system attacks the hair follicles. For people whose genes put them at risk for the disease, some type of trigger starts the attack on the hair follicles. The triggers may be a virus or something in the person’s environment.

Symptoms of Alopecia

The primary symptom of alopecia areata is roundish patches of hair loss on the head, with smooth, hairless scalp in the affected areas. Alopecia totalis involves the complete loss of all scalp hair, and alopecia universalis is characterized by the complete loss of all scalp and body hair.

Treatment of Alopecia

1. Certain medications to promote hair growth (such as minoxidil and finasteride).

2. Treating any underlying condition or disease.

3. Corticosteroid injections (when treating alopecia areata).

4. Scalp reduction.

The plight of people with alopecia is not something to be taken lightly. They are having real problems with their hair condition. Bald spots seem to come and go for them, and may even cause them to go completely bald eventually. The troubles they have with their hair, their confidence issues and financial concerns for treatments are more than enough for them to handle at present. They don’t need onlookers to add to their concerns. It’s a wonder then why their alopecia causes the majority who have hairs to treat them rather rudely.

Maybe people are just born curious, but curiosity is different from rudeness. Little children may ask the why question to almost anything because they want to know and they are allowed to do it, even encouraged to do so. But as adults, people have developed the maturity to know when to ask, how to go about it nicely and when to keep their mouths shut. And they have also developed the talent of knowing when to glance, when to stare, and when to look away.

Education is the best tool to cope with curiosity and to stop appearing rude. When people know what it is, they don’t ask anymore because they know and they understand it. When people understand something, they know how to deal with it. So they simply go about their daily activities, and when they encounter bald people on the street or in their workplace or at the party, they can simply be indifferent to it. It’s just accepting people as they are.

By knowing about alopecia, people gain understanding. Alopecia is a condition wherein people who are suffering from it tend to lose their hairs on one or more spots of their scalp, or lose all of them including the eyebrows and everything that grow from hair follicles. Its causes include hormonal influences, immune system dysfunction, other systemic problems, and all are mostly related to the genetic make-up of the individual.

Alopecia causes no pain to most and they don’t need pity from anyone. It is not contagious. They are healthy individuals just with their hair problems. It is not like diabetes or hypertension, where although these diseases are not seen, they have more serious complications. Alopecia on the other hand, still allows those who have it to enjoy any activity they choose, with no food limitations or drugs to maintain.

Many people with alopecia have accepted their fate. They go out, make friends, raise families, pursue hobbies, and enjoy their careers. They’re just like everyone. They should be admired really, for coming out of their shells and living their lives the best they can. Their stories somehow make one proud to know them, for the courage they have, their resolve to rise above their baldness. They could teach everyone a thing or two about life and humility and hope.

Instead of them being down for life, alopecia causes them to be more understanding of the world around them, often offering help and support to those who have alopecia like themselves.

The first noticeable signs of alopecia onset could be described as hair loss, balding or patchy hair loss.

Let’s get away from the cold descriptions as I don’t like them any more than you do.

Normally the initial indicators of alopecia starting are the morning when you wake up to find some head hair on your pillow, possibly not noticeable or you choose to put it down to the usual loss of dead hair that has simply run it’s course in your scalp and has fallen out. After your morning tea or coffee you head to the bathroom to get ready. During which time you run your comb or brush through your hair to see that even more hair has departed from its home on the top of your head and decided to lodge itself into your bristles. Maybe this is more than every day hair loss?

Days and weeks go by and yet more and more hair has fallen out, you’ve started to notice bald patches, albeit minute in size that no one else would really notice, but you can’t help think something isn’t quite right.

Some more weeks pass and you’re convinced you’re starting to go bald, does it run in your family? If the answer is a resounding no it does not, then there is a chance you are suffering from alopecia.

Causes of alopecia:

So what has caused you to suffer from this? Well believe it or not it is actually more common these days in todays modern society.

There are various reasons why alopecia can onset but if you are otherwise fit and healthy then I think we can rule out your overall physical condition being a factor.

Severe emotional stress can be a major player that can lead to alopecia taking hold.

Have you recently lost your job due to the market? or possibly going through a time of imbalance in your personal life? There are many different factors that cause stress to the extent that this illness starts to let itself known, there is no hard and fast rule. It may be worth taking a step back and analysing your life at this time to see if anything at all could be the explanation. Divorce, separation or the bereavement of a loved one can be key factors in alopecia starting.

If none of the above situations apply to you, then a more recent discovery of disorders could be the explanation. Specifically hormonal disorders. Without getting into too much medical mumbo jumbo, though a number of chemical and biological factors, the hormones responsible for hair growth in you can become severely unbalanced, causing the once virulent hair follicles in your head to effectively shut down, start to close up and eventually lead to each hair slowly but surely fall out of your scalp. It is becoming clear that hormonal imbalances are due to vitamin deficiency, poor diet and similar factors – again the way we live non stop in this century doesn’t help matters.

Again, take a step back and give yourself a dressing down, are you eating properly during the day or are you skipping vital foods with the vitamins and minerals required for healthy sustained hair growth?

You need to be really honest with yourself in order to formulate a true scenario where you can get yourself back to the way you were before the alopecia started.

Alopecia Support:

This is the part of the puzzle that will definitely not be a problem. There are many great alopecia self help groups, internet forums and written texts on the internet that can help you along your way to recovery. The main step is to be honest with yourself. That way you can look objectively at the problem you have, face up to it and deal with it in a way that you would feel happier with yourself. There is no point in worrying about it more than you already are. This may seem like a very harsh thing to say, but if you become anxious and worried then this will only compound the matter. Seek out the advice of a medical professional as well. They would also be the best point of contact to find a local sufferers group if that is the path you wish to choose.

I wrote this article to hopefully give you a good understanding of what is happening to you and possible causes, this article in itself will not correct your frame of mind nor will it magically restart the hair growth process, that is solely down to you, but don’t do it alone. If possible get friends and family involved, let them know how badly this is affecting you and you need their love and support to help you through.

The Alopecia foundation not only provides support to those who suffer from the condition. They also conduct research to determine acceptable treatments for patients. They also educate the general population about it since so little is understood about the disease. They conduct fund raising events; publish news articles and other advocacy efforts. The most popular organization is the NAAF (National Alopecia Areata Foundation). It was established in 1981. Since then the group have helped alopecia sufferers in battling with the disorder. It is highly regarded and widely known for the efforts and support it has provided to numerous patients and continues to do so. The foundation is committed to its mission to provide support for alopecia patients, to advocate research studies to find a cure or better treatment for sufferers and educate the public about the condition. The organization accomplishes its mission through the following actions:

It provides funds for research workshops and studies to gain more knowledge about alopecia areata, to possibly find a cure and provide more acceptable treatments for the disorder. Alopecia areata specifically is still a big mystery. There is little knowledge and understanding about the disorder. NAAF hopes to get the answers and put an end or solve the mystery. The foundation also provides grants to research experts in the fields of genetics, clinical studies and immunology.

It supports alopecia patients and their families for the treatments and by educating them about the condition. In the past 24 years, NAAF has held conference to accommodate patients and their families and friends alike to provide not only emotional support but proper education of the disorder. An attendee learns the things he/ she needs to know about the alopecia and this includes the latest in medical and research studies and the best treatment and options for a patient. Ultimately, the conference aims to send out the message that patients are not alone in this battle.

It disperses information about the disorder to the public.

It campaigns the concerns of alopecia patients since they closely work together to fight the disorder.

It generates news articles and educational materials distributed to people who are affected by the condition and to healthcare professionals as well.

Losing our hair can be a dreaded occurrence in a person’s life. It can leave emotional scars that will take time to heal. But with helping hands and shoulders to lean on for support, one may just find the experience more bearable knowing that he/ she has someone on his/ her side. And this is exactly what the Alopecia foundation wants Alopecia patients to feel.

The condition known as androgenic alopecia (pattern baldness) is not really as complicated of a problem as many folks might think it is. There is only one root cause of this condition, and that is the starvation of your hair follicles.

Not only that, but the causes of your follicles not getting what they need are extremely few in numbers. In all reality, you only need to concentrate on three. And all three are able to be easily treated, making male pattern baldness a truly unnecessary condition for many men!

Androgenic Alopecia – One Quick Caveat:

Just to be fair, before we get you too excited, there’s something I must tell you. I’ll just come right out with it by saying that you may not have a treatable condition. It’s possible that your hair loss has gone untreated for too long, and that you are now showing area(s) of the scalp with zero hair cover.

In this case, there is a high probability that a hair transplant is the only hair loss treatment that will work for you. Of course, you will want to discuss your specific condition, as well as any treatment options that may benefit you, with your dermatologist or other qualified professional.

This particular article will discuss three very powerful steps for hair restoration that have been of great benefit many men with treatable hair loss. These steps solve each of the reasons for your hair follicles to be nutrient deprived. I trust you will find this to be extremely beneficial!

Androgenic Alopecia – Treatment Step One:

Provide your hair with what it needs!

This is as basic as it gets. If life-sustaining nutriment is not even present within you, then how can you expect to reverse your condition? It will not happen without the right nutrients being made available for use within the body.

Some of the vitamins and minerals you need to focus on are copper, biotin, inositol, vitamin A, zinc, follic acid, and magnesium.

While it may be true that healthy foods are the best sources of these nutrients, natural supplementation is a much more efficient and sure-fire way to get what you need. Besides, the quality of our food supply isn’t what it used to be!

Androgenic Alopecia – Treatment Step Two:

Inhibit the formation of dht.

As the primary cause of androgenic alopecia, dihydrotestosterone (dht) is an androgen – or sex hormone – that is formed within the body when certain enzymes come into contact with excess testosterone.

This disgusting androgen fastens itself to your helpless follicles, rendering them unable to absorb nutrients from the scalp’s blood supply. Essentially, dht slowly murders your hair follicles! But you have the power to stop it.

Anti-androgens, also called dht blockers, can be used. One powerful choice among these is finasteride, better known as Propecia. This FDA approved hair loss solution is extremely effective, boasting an 83% rate of success!

On the downside, serious and potentially long-term sexual side effects have occurred in users of the drug. These include low libido, inability to perform, and even sterility. Though these risks are somewhat low, only showing up in approximately 2% of all users, a good number of men decide not to gamble.

For these men, a natural alternative seems a much safer and wiser option. The obvious choice for men going the natural route is saw palmetto extract. There are many more fantastic choices that can help, including green tea, emu oil, and nettle root extract. In any event, only a fool would ignore the importance of taking a good dht blocker.

Androgenic Alopecia – Treatment Step Three:

Encourage proper blood flow in the scalp! It doesn’t make a difference how nourished and dht-free you make yourself. If your scalp isn’t delivering blood to your follicles, then you can be sure that you’ll keep losing hair. It is important that you take the reigns and find a way to re-establish proper blood circulation in your scalp.

This is where minoxidil comes into play. The only other FDA approved androgenic alopecia treatment available, minoxidil is thought to open up the blood vessels in your scalp, enabling them to deliver much-needed nutriment to your weakened follicles. Men who use a 5% minoxidil topical should begin to see new growth in as little as a few weeks, with some individuals noticing regrowth in just days!

Androgenic Alopecia – Putting It All Together:

By following all three of these critical steps, you are taking a giant step toward total hair regrowth. It’s a very basic concept. You nourish the blood, you remove the bad stuff from your blood, and you optimize transportation of the blood to your sick follicles. There is no more thorough way of fighting androgenic alopecia.

One product that fights androgenic alopecia from all three of these angles is Provillus.

If your condition is still treatable, and you would like to take a closer look at Provillus, you are invited to do so at this time.

Any androgenetic alopecia treatment worth considering will address the one singular cause of your condition. The only reason your hair is thinning and/or falling out is that your follicles are being starved to death!

Thankfully, the list of reasons for your follicles dying of hunger is a very short one. In all reality, you only need to concentrate on three. And these simple causes are each totally treatable, which is why I’m so excited to be sharing this information with you!

Androgenetic Alopecia Treatment – Pump the Brakes:

But wait. Don’t get too excited yet, as you really need to understand something. I’ll just come right out with it by saying that you may not have a treatable condition. There’s a chance that your hair loss has gone untreated for too long, and that now you’ve got totally bare patches of scalp showing.

In this case, there is a high probability that a hair transplant is the only hair loss treatment that will work for you. You are always encouraged to talk your options over with a qualified professional (dermatologist), but generally speaking, it’s likely too late for you to benefit from a non-surgical restoration approach.

This article will show you three steps to regrow your hair if you still happen to be treatable. This plan addresses all three of the causes of the follicle starvation which is causing your condition. I hope this benefits you greatly!

Androgenetic Alopecia Treatment – Step One:

Consume adequate nutrition.

Makes perfect sense, right? If life-sustaining nutriment is not even present within you, then how can you expect to reverse your condition? Put simply, you can’t. It is critical that you make the “food” your follicles are being deprived of available to them.

Some of the vitamins and minerals you need to focus on are follic acid, magnesium, copper, zinc, and vitamins B, A, and E.

While it may be true that healthy foods are the best sources of these nutrients, supplements are certainly recommended, as they offer consistent amounts of these nutrients in a very efficient and convenient way. Anyway, truly healthy food is anything but cheap these days!

Androgenetic Alopecia Treatment – Step Two:

Kick dht to the curb!

The number one cause of all hair loss, dihydrotestosterone (dht) is a male sex hormone, known as an androgen, that those of us with androgenetic alopecia are genetically “doomed” to have too much of.

This appalling attacker clings to your hair follicles, rendering them unable to absorb nutrients from the scalp’s blood supply. When it’s all said and done, dht kills your hair via slow starvation! But you have the power to stop it.

There is no shortage of dht blockers available to you. The most popular of these is finasteride (Propecia). This particular treatment option is FDA approved and has been proven effective time and time again.

On the downside, serious and potentially long-term sexual side effects have occurred in users of the drug. Among those reported are infertility, low sex drive, and impotence. And although occurrences of these conditions are fairly low, complicating the lives of only 2 out of 100 men, some guys don’t believe it’s worth the risk and simply steer clear of the drug.

These particular individuals turn, instead, to natural alternatives. One of the most effective dht blockers from the world of nature is saw palmetto. There are several more great choices, including pygeum extract, soy isoflavones, and nettle root extract. Whichever route you go, please do NOT overlook the importance of blocking dht!

Androgenetic Alopecia Treatment – Step Three:

Make sure to increase your scalp’s blood flow!

It doesn’t matter how much dht you block or how many vitamins you take. If your blood can’t even get to your starving follicles, then your problem isn’t going away any time soon. And it’s up to you to restore proper circulation to your scalp.

To make this happen, many men use minoxidil. Among the most successful hair restoration products ever made, minoxidil opens up your scalp’s tiny blood vessels, enabling them to bring the circulation of “hair food” back up to par. By simply applying a 5% minoxidil solution directly to your scalp each morning, you can begin to notice new hair growth taking place within days!

Androgenetic Alopecia Treatment – In Conclusion:

By implementing this powerful strategy, you are giving yourself the very best shot at success. The idea is quite fundamental. You nourish the blood, you rid the blood of dht, and you make sure your follicles receive the blood. You will not find a more complete androgenetic alopecia treatment anywhere else.

One product that does all three of these essential things is Provillus.

If your condition is still treatable, and you would like to take a closer look at Provillus, you are invited to do so at this time.

Everyone experiences hair loose daily. While combing or brushing the hair, there are always a number of hairs that get plucked from their roots. Fortunately it’s not enough to cause distress because the loss is minimal. However, it is different for patients who are suffering from hair loss or alopecia. Alopecia causes some to have bald spots on their scalp and others eventually lose all hairs on their body which places them in a very stressful situation.

Some people who suffer from Alopecia may develop anxiety and or depression. Many of those who experience Alopecia for the first time are the ones becoming most affected by all its implications. Some feel shy about having Alopecia making it difficult for them to make friends. Some refuse to mingle with people, becoming anxious and agitated when in the crowd, for fear of their hair situation being noticed and be talked about. Others simply refuse to see people at all. While this is a normal reaction at first, the inability of some people with Alopecia to come out from their gloomy place, the worse it becomes for them. Their social, emotional and mental status deteriorates as well as their physical appearance. The good news is that there is hope for them.

Finding the “cure” for Alopecia has caused many of us to read and try every manual, website, hair product out there not to mention the many doctor consultations. Some of us have tried hair enhancement products and it has worked for us. Some prefer to wear wigs. A well made, well fitted wig can helped us get our confidence back and let us live our regular life. Hair transplants have also been successful for those who can afford it.

The problem with Alopecia is that for many who have it, have it for life. Some people experienced a bald spot and then hair would simply grow back even without treatment and never has it happen again. But for some their hair grows back again, sometimes for years posing no problems. Then something changes and we find ourselves becoming bald again sometimes to the extent of losing all of the hair or sometimes leaving just a few strands in their scalp.

Those of us with Alopecia have different ways in dealing with it. There are people who refuse to call it a disease because for them they don’t feel any pain from it. There are those who accepted the fact that they would go hairless or bald for life and then simply lived with it. They go about their daily activities studying, working, going to the malls, theaters, parties or just anything people do, never minding the stares and whispers and even the outright rudeness of some people who discriminate against them. Some even feel lucky and happy and are successful in their pursuit of their respective careers.

Anxiety and depression cause other people with Alopecia to remain in their shells and some even refuse to go out. Their Alopecia causes them to live a secluded life. But they have to know that many others like us are able to live up to the challenges of the condition. Forums and support groups are available for us all the time. They just have to know they are not alone in this struggle and that there is help.

Most of the time, balding is equated to aging. But the truth is hair loss affects children as much as it affects adults. In fact, around 3% of pediatric visits are attributed to hair loss. Alopecia is a serious condition and can be a devastating one at that. On the bright side, with proper diagnosis, Alopecia in children can be treated successfully. Hence it is advised that hair loss of even the smallest amount shall be dealt with accordingly. There are different conditions that can cause balding in children. One of which is Alopecia Areata which affects one child in every 1,000.

Alopecia Areata is a condition that occurs without warning. It can happen overnight. It is characterized by the appearance of bald patches in the head. It is believed to be the result of an immune system imbalance which causes it to attack hair follicles which in turn, causes hair loss or prevents hair growth in the affected area. Alopecia Areata cases are handled by seeing a dermatologist. Unfortunately researchers have not come up with a standard procedure to diagnose Alopecia Areata cases yet. So dermatologists perform a process of elimination in determining the cause of hair loss in a patient. However, the distinctive quality of Alopecia Areata makes it easier to identify by a simple visual examination of the bald patch. These bald lesions appear as smooth surfaces that do not show any signs of broken hairs or even inflammation. The following are other known facts about the condition:

For the first lesion that appears within 24 hour period, patients may experience a sensation of pain in the affected area.

The scalp is usually the area that is affected but Alopecia Areata can also be present in other parts of the body.

25% of children with Alopecia Areata condition also experience ridging of the nails.

5% of Alopecia Areata patients are likely to develop a more advances condition such as total loss of hair in the head, Alopecia Totalis. While others develop Alopecia Universalis or the total loss of body hair.

Hair pull tests are usually performed to determine the particular area is actively affected or if further loss of hair shall be expected.

There is no cure for Alopecia. But the good news is given proper treatment, a considerable percentage of Alopecia Areata patients have a chance to get their hair back within twelve months or with more luck, their hair may grow back sooner.

People who are affected by the disorder despite losing hair, are perfectly healthy.

Research studies on Alopecia Areata are unsuccessful in determining other possible causes or cure for the condition. Treatments and drugs are available to help grow hair. Unfortunately, the continuous appearance of bald patches cannot be stopped or prevented.

Hair loss is a natural occurrence that is present all over the world with men and women. We lose hair, however sometimes hair loss becomes excessive. Baldness or loss of hair is referred to as alopecia. Alopecia totalis means loss of all the scalp hair. Alopecia universalis means loss of all body hair, including eyebrows and eyelashes. Alopecia areata is the term used when hair falls out in patches. This condition is usually temporary and rarely leads to baldness. In most people with alopecia areata, hair usually grows back within a year.

There are many causes of hair loss, including: genetic, hormonal, aging, nutrient deficiencies, toxins, harsh chemicals, smoking, stress, thyroid problems, pregnancy, birth control pills, amino acid deficiency, intestinal parasites, intestinal problems, fungal infections, side effects of medication, reaction to illness, after major surgery, and reaction to chemotherapy. It is important to treat the underlying problem. The balance of bodily hormones is a factor in the onset and degree of hair loss in both men and women. A healthy balance of male and female hormones is important to hair growth. It is the male hormone testosterone (produced by both men and women) that is associated with hair loss. The hair follicle responds to hormonal levels. Testosterone causes hair loss while encouraging hair growth in the pubic and underarm areas. Also, thinning hair or hair loss can be a sign of a problem with the intestinal tract. An intestinal cleansing along with the consumption of acidophilus will help restore healthy hair. Treating the condition will often reverse the hair loss.

Many people around the world have been using various natural ingredients for improving their hair growth for thousands of years. These natural ingredients will help slow hair loss or increase hair growth. They are much healthier without the worry of harmful side effects that synthetic drugs may cause.

Alopecia areata is a form of hair loss from areas of the body, usually from the scalp. It can occur at any age and affects 1% of the population, most commonly children. Hair loss tends to be rather rapid and often involves one side of the head more than the other. Alopecia areata affects both males and females. This type of hair loss is different than male-pattern baldness, an inherited condition. In 1–2% of cases, the condition can spread to the entire scalp (Alopecia totalis) or to the entire epidermis (Alopecia universalis). The cause of alopecia areata is unknown, although in some cases, alopecia areata has been associated with autoimmune diseases. A family history of alopecia is present in about a fifth of all cases. Alopecia areata is occasionally associated with autoimmune diseases.

Some autoimmune conditions such as allergic disorders, thyroid disease, vitiligo, lupus, rheumatoid arthritis, and ulcerative colitis. Alopecia may also occur as alopecia totalis with complete loss of scalp hair or as alopecia universalis with total loss of all body hair. Alopecia areata appears to also have an autoimmune factor causing the patient to develop antibodies to different hair follicle structures. It affects 1-2% of the population. Certain chemicals that are a part of the immune system called cytokines may play a role in alopecia areata by inhibiting hair follicle growth. Emotional stress may also cause alopecia areata. With alopecia areata, baldness usually occurs in small, round, smooth patches. Treatment depends on the extent of the disease, and the age of the patient.

For small patchy disease, intralesional steroid injections (Kenalog(r)) are the best approach. Steroid injections are commonly used in sites where there are small areas of hair loss on the head or especially where eyebrow hair has been lost. Some other medications used are minoxidil, irritants (anthralin or topical coal tar), and topical immunotherapy cyclosporine, each of which are sometimes used in different combinations. Other medications include minoxidil, irritants (anthralin or topical coal tar), and topical immunotherapy (cyclosporine), each of which are sometimes used in different combinations. Injections of cortisone into the scalp can treat alopecia areata. The most effective treatment currently available is contact hypersensitization with some studies showing 40% success rates.

Alopecia Areata Get Rid Tips

1. Triamcinolone acetonide (Kenalog) is used most commonly.

2. Stress reduction can be helpful in slowing hair loss.

3. Betamethasone dipropionate cream 0.05% (Diprosone) showed similar efficacy.

4. Steroid injections, creams, and shampoos for the scalp have been used for alopecia.

5. Regular aerobic exercise can help keep androgen levels (particularly free testosterone levels).

6. Immunosuppressants applied to the scalp have been shown to temporarily reverse alopecia areata.

7. Some non-clinical treatment such as ,blackcurrant and borage oils in caplet form, and zinc supplement tablets.
